Russell Mcdonald Testimonial
Russell wanted to send a message to say thank you to all of the staff at Castlebrae, Auchterarder after his stay between Monday the 28/09/2020 and Friday the 02/10/2020.
"Having attended during 2018 for my initial injury then again in February of this year for post-surgical physiotherapy, I was invited back for further rehabilitation treatment in the past two weeks. I am eternally grateful to Paul and his team, for the outstanding treatment I received during all three visits.
During my earlier visit, my physiotherapist Juliet worked extremely hard with me to get me out of pain, and during my latest two visits Jane worked tirelessly to reduce my pain post operation, and in the past two weeks enabled me to run for the first time, since my surgery in December 2019. The consistent high quality of the treatment I have received from Jane and the wider physio team including Juliet and Pauline has been nothing short of outstanding. The entire team are dedicated, enthusiastic, encouraging and welcoming. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the physio team, who consistently went above and beyond my expectations. I have no doubt whatsoever that without the treatment I have received from Castlebrae that my mobility, pain levels and overall fitness would be nowhere near where it is now.
Castlebrae and the PTC is a special place, made up of people who are not only dedicated and professional but who consistently go the extra mile, to make officers feel welcome by offering the warmest of welcomes. The culture in the Centre is unique, in that all staff contribute to making patients feel part of a special little family. The housekeepers go the extra mile to not only clean the building to an immaculate standard, but take time to learn every officers name and to stop for a chat. The housekeeping team are an integral part of the community who go about their business with humour, cheer and compassion. To me they are not only housekeepers, they far exceed their job titles by getting to know patients individually and always being on hand to provide assistance both physically and in terms of friendship. Lesley has a team of housekeepers to be proud of, with Karen, Lindsey, Yvonne and the others all consistently going the extra mile.
The kitchen and dining staff, much like the housekeepers are welcoming and friendly, again addressing every patient by their name and making them feel warm and welcome. Michelle, Jean, Alison and the others all work hard to learn individual patients names, likes and dislikes. The food produced by the kitchen is outstanding and would not be out of place in a five star hotel. The receptionists and security personnel greet patients with the widest of smiles and also take time to have a chat. Always on hand to offer information regarding local attractions or information relating to the facilities on offer within the PTC. The reception team ensure officers are made to feel cared for, by always enquiring about their whereabouts and ETA of return to the building. Stacey, Carol and Lana are by far the most absolutely outstanding ambassadors for the Centre.
The PT staff are amazing, dedicated and enthusiastic, they are well versed in rehabilitation and offer a tailored approach to every patient. I cannot praise Douglas, Scott and Rachael highly enough. The knowledge and dedication provided by them is absolutely brilliant.
The nursing team are also second to none, with Olive, Maureen and Amy all offering a first class service. The nursing staff are consistently visible, and always on hand to offer assistance, advice, or just a chat. It was clear to me that wellbeing is high on the agenda for all the nursing staff, who regularly enquired to my own wellbeing, even though I was at the Centre for Physio, again demonstrating the willingness to exceed expectations. Although I attended the Centre for physio, I was lucky enough to receive a complimentary therapy treatment from Kirsty who like the rest of the team provided a welcoming and friendly approach to her treatment style. The staff behind the scenes including chefs, maintenance and gardeners work to the highest of standards, that certainly do not go unnoticed or unappreciated by patients.
Finally I would like to mention Paul, the Centre manager who runs the Centre as a perfectly orchestrated family of dedicated and professional people, with a nothing is too much trouble approach to everything they do. Paul himself demonstrates the values he preaches, by ensuring the Centre is a calm and relaxing place, with an emphasis on wellbeing and recovery. The balance between patients receiving wellbeing and physio support is perfectly struck, thanks to Paul and his approach.
All of the staff demonstrated a concern regarding the potential impact of Covid restrictions, in place as a result of the recent pandemic. However all the restrictions in place were clearly present to protect both patients, staff and the wider community. All restrictions in place have clearly been considered to combine safety with common sense. And while not all facilities were available, for me personally I did not feel they negatively impacted either my enjoyment or overall recovery. The PTC will always hold a special place in my heart, and throughout the remainder of my Police service and beyond, I will always encourage my colleagues to contribute to what is an absolutely outstanding charity."
Everyone at the Police Treatment Centres would like to thank Russell for him kind words. Comments and thanks such as these really do give everyone involved with the PTC a real boost, it is so nice to hear that our hard work makes a difference to Officers lives.
