Karen has had the benefit of treatment at St Andrews twice in her career with British Transport Police.
“I was at the PTC after being significantly injured whilst on duty, I had a commuted fracture of the right humorous. I had at the time limitations of movement and weakness to the joint. I have also visited the centre for recovery of a displaced wrist.”
Alongside Karen’s one-to-one sessions with her physiotherapist, she received acupuncture and Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation as pain relief.
“The treatment assisted in my movement, and light gym work helped with the strength in my shoulder. I have also had complementary therapy which was amazing.”
The hands-on treatment wasn’t the only benefit that Karen had during her stay.
“During my stay I was allowed the time to reflect not just on the injury but my career going forward.”
Asked if she would recommend the PTC to her colleagues, Karen said,
“Absolutely! The practitioners and staff are truly amazing people who go out of their way to ensure officers are fixed and well for duty. Amazing people doing wonderful things in a fabulous corner of Harrogate.”
