Paul Gray, a South Yorkshire PCSO who has been with the Force for 22 years recently spent two weeks at the Police Treatment Centres in Harrogate. He was kind enough to share his experience with us.
"Due to a Congenital abnormality of my right hand (3 digits missing), I attended the Police Treatment Centre for physiotherapy treatment. I received advice on how to strengthen my core, due to my left hand side compensating over many years.
What can I say, the staff are very professional, polite, patient, understanding and very experienced in all the fields of employment. The staff were amazing, from Physios to nurses to gym staff to the canteen professionals to the Leonberger therapy dogs and owners, I cannot fault one aspect of the experience.
From dusk until dawn, the Police Treatment Centres is a very organised and a positive environment. I would recommend for all officers to join, as at some point in your career, may it be through an injury or wellbeing, the centre and staff will always be a great support.
The conclusion for me is, I’ve been given a 7 week plan, and I will be returning end of November for another week, but already I am seeing a great improvement in my fitness, core and training.
Thank you, Police Treatment Centre, you are the best."
