Please be aware that the Police Treatment Centres St Andrews will be closed to patients w/c 23rd September 2019 and will re-open on Monday 30th September 2019. The Police Treatment Centres Castlebrae will remain open during this period.
The Board of Trustees have taken the decision to close during this week due to the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Road World Championships taking place in Harrogate during this week. The UCI Championship will not only be a huge event for Harrogate, bringing in many extra visitors, media and teams, but will inevitably cause significant travel and traffic disruption around the area; PTC St Andrews is also in the centre of the main race route.
The Board of Trustees considered that St Andrews would likely have to run on reduced staff numbers due to the travel disruption, which would affect the high level of patient care and standard of treatment that we would be able to offer. In addition, many patients would also find it difficult to travel to the Centres during this time. It was therefore decided to close St Andrews to patients during this week and instead rent out our building in order to gain some extra revenue for the PTC.
During this week, St Andrews will play host to two of the UCI Teams. Not only is this a fantastic opportunity to showcase the work and the facilities available at the PTC on an international stage, but all of the money raised during this time will go directly back into the Centres; benefitting all of our Police Family donors and patients.
We appreciate that this will affect some patients wishing to attend during this week and would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. However, all patient applications will be clinically reviewed and allocated dates for admission, including the option to attend Castlebrae during this week if appropriate. We hope that you are able to understand that whilst this decision was not taken lightly, the closure of St Andrews for this short period will allow the PTC to further support patient care.
