As you will all be aware the Police Treatment Centres (PTC) took the difficult decision in March to close both of our centres (St Andrews, Harrogate and Castlebrae, Auchterarder) until further notice.
All future bookings for both centres, for both the Physiotherapy Programme and Psychological Wellbeing Programme remain suspended, and no further bookings will be taken for the foreseeable future. All hospitality bookings, including Bed and Breakfast, Health and Wellbeing Weekends, Meetings and St George’s House, also remain suspended.
The Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees considered the closure decision on 10 June 2020 in consultation with the PTC leadership team, and after reviewing the current government and public health advice have directed that both centres should continue to remain closed for the time being.
We are very conscious that this is unwelcome news for all of our future patients but we are working hard behind the scenes during this time to provide virtual support through our social media accounts and online advice through the physiotherapy hotline. We are also busy equipping both our centres with new protective equipment, acquiring PPE and reviewing our treatment plans to ensure that we are able to operate effectively within the new post COVID-19 world. I am also pleased to say that we have managed to continue work on our new Clinical Services Wing at PTC Harrogate which is on track to be completed in Spring 2021. This will allow us to treat even more patients at the PTC, and to improve and expand our class leading Wellbeing Treatment programmes.
We will keep a careful eye on the situation and the trustee’s executive group are scheduled to next meet at the end of July to review this decision. We will continue to be guided by government and public health advice and the health and safety of our patients and employees will be our top priority. We are absolutely confident that we will come out of this crisis in a stronger position to support and treat our patients, but as it stands at the moment, we do not expect to be able to deliver any residential treatment until September 2020.
We do apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment that the enforced closure has caused, but please bear with us and continue to monitor our website for further updates as they follow.
Thank you for your continued support, and stay safe.
