Helen Patterson, a former PC who currently works as a member of Police staff with the South Yorkshire Constabulary recently won £2000 in the December Superdraw edition of the Police Treatment Centres Charity Lottery. Here Helen outlines her past experiences of the Police Treatment Centres and how she came to take part in the Lottery itself.
“I have played the Lottery for around 10 years after becoming aware of it through past visits to St Andrews. This allowed me the opportunity to witness first-hand the good that the centres do and the Lottery is a really easy, fun way to help the centres continue their important work. With of course the added bonus of a chance to win a big prize!
During my career as a serving Officer I was lucky enough to visit St Andrews on their Psychological Wellbeing Programme. It was invaluable in giving me time to rest, relax and equipped me with the tools to better manage my mental health and wellbeing. I can’t thank the PTC and its staff enough for all their help.
I hope to spend part of my winnings on really boring, sensible stuff like getting my car serviced but would also like to treat myself to some ridiculously expensive boots I have wanted for a long while.”
