When Graham Wilson decided to take on the mind-blowing challenge of 120 Marathons in 120 days, he never expected a world pandemic to get in the way of his preparations. However, that is exactly what happened, and all Graham’s training, preparation and fundraising came to a halt when the country went into lockdown.
Graham was not to be defeated though, and as soon as restrictions were lifted in 2021 Graham set off on his mammoth challenge trek of completing 120 marathon distances of 26.5 miles per day for 120 consecutive days. The total journey of 3,120 miles was gruelling to say the least but Graham managed to undertake the challenge with great enthusiasm and plenty of smiles along the way.
Of course, Graham was also raising funds for good causes with his marathon challenge and raised thousands of pounds for several charities including the Police Treatment centres.
The trek started and finished in Graham’s hometown of Harrogate and now Graham has been nominated for an award as part of the Yorkshire Choice Awards. Graham is up for the Local Fundraiser of the Year award. The voting has now closed but the results will not be revealed until Friday 6th May at the Awards Gala Dinner at the Centenary Pavilion of Leeds United Football Ground.
We wish Graham every success. He is certainly our winner.
