We are delighted to announce that Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, visited The Police Treatment Centres, Harrogate on Wednesday 20th September 2023.
The Police Treatment Centres have two residential rehabilitation centres in Harrogate, North Yorkshire and Auchterarder, Perthshire treating injured and ill Police Family members through its Physiotherapy and Psychological Wellbeing Programmes. The Harrogate Centre opened a new Clinical Services Wing in 2021 to meet the increased demand for Psychological Wellbeing Support for the Police Family.
Princess Anne became the Charity’s patron in December 2021. The CEO of the PTC Patrick Cairns said, “For Her Royal Highness to convey her support for the Police Treatment Centres by becoming our Patron is a tremendous honour for our Charity and it is clear that The Princess Royal understands the challenges that the Police Service are currently under and the work that we do at the PTC in treating ill and injured police officers for a range of physical and mental health injuries.”
Liam Kelly, Chair of the Board of Trustees, accompanied Princess Anne during her visit and expressed his gratitude to Princess Anne for her time and patronage. He also thanked the staff at the Charity for their continued hard work in providing patients with the best possible experience to aid their recovery.
Princess Anne enjoyed a guided tour of the Centres speaking to many staff and patients, before unveiling a plaque dedicating the opening of the Centre’s new Clinical Services Wing. Princess Anne recognised the history of the Charity, and that the ethos remains the same today as at its conception. She highlighted the need for all officers, especially those new to the role, to be aware of the work at the Treatment Centres to mitigate risks they may face. Princess Anne also thanked the staff at the Centres for their continued hard work, commitment and dedication to helping those that serve our communities.
