A famous feature of the Harrogate tourist scene are the Flower Shows, which take place in Spring and Autumn at the Great Yorkshire Showground.
Wander down into Harrogate and visit the world famous
Bettys. Providing a wonderful relaxed setting for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and evening meals, Bettys offers one of the best spots in town to enjoy the beauty of the town's surroundings. From the swathes of crocuses which herald the spring, through to the autumn colours, the Stray is always a delight, and a window table at Bettys is the best place to enjoy it.

RHS Garden Harlow Carr, just up the road from St Andrews covers 27.5 hectares (68 acres). Set in a valley and very much a part of the Yorkshire countryside, the garden has a wide variety of growing landscapes, from running and still water to woodland and wildflower meadows. Special events and shows take place throughout the year.

Just over 10 miles away is the beautiful and historic Fountains Abbey with its atmospheric ruins and elegant water garden. Riverside paths lead to the deer park, home to Red, Fallow and Sika deer and ancient trees; limes, oaks, and sweet chestnuts. One-of-a-kind, this special place is now recognised as a World Heritage Site.

Escape the hustle and bustle with a trip to the Yorkshire Dales National Park home to some of Yorkshire's most iconic scenery and attractions. With spectacular limestone valleys, picture postcard villages and historic castles, it's a place that stirs the emotions and stimulates the senses of everyone that visits.

Harrogate always makes a great base for seeing the action Yorkshire-wide.
For the energetic and serious cyclists why not come along to experience cycling the routes of the original Tour de France or the first Tour de Yorkshire? Take the train to Leeds to do the whole 2014 Tour route or start at Grassington taking on the Tour de France in the Dales .

Shopping and Culture: The historic city of York is within 25 miles and the bustling city of Leeds with its great shopping is an easy drive. There are many other smaller, easily accessible local towns and attractions like Knaresborough and Ripon. for the iconic Turkish Bath and Health Spa in Harrogate for some pampering. Besides the baths experience itself, a range of spa treatments are also on offer.

Harrogate is also home to The Great Yorkshire Show every year in July. In recent years the Show now runs over 4 days Tuesday - Friday. This means that guests could go to the show on the Friday before enjoying a weekend break in Harrogate.
