Our centre in Auchterarder, known as Castlebrae, is set in 6 acres of beautiful, peaceful grounds but is literally just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre with its coffee shops and small boutique shops. The world famous Gleneagles Hotel and Golf complex, is only a few minutes along the road and the ‘Fair City’ of Perth only 20 minutes away.
Located within the stunning scenery of Perthshire, Auchterarder is a good base not just for those who love golf but for anyone with an interest in walking or cycling or you could even bag yourself a munro or two.
Golf
Perthshire is home to some of the oldest and best known golf courses in Scotland.
The South Inch in Perth is said to have been the location of the world’s first golf course, played on by Scottish monarchs in the 14th century when in residence at nearby Scone Palace and when Perth was the capital of Scotland.
Gleneagles is the only venue in the UK that has not one but three championship courses and hosted the prestigious Ryder Cup in 2014. Guests can take advantage of the discounts at 2 of the local golf courses, within easy distance of Auchterarder. Please ask on booking or at the centre for more information as these offers are pre bookable.

We accept groups both for golfing, cycling and walking breaks with plenty of advance notice. Contact fundraising@thepolicetreatmentcentres.org for further information.
Walking
Perthshire has 2,000 square miles of breathtaking scenery to explore right in the very heart of Scotland. Known as ‘Big Tree Country’ it has some of Europe's oldest forests and the region hosts a number of walking festivals and events of interest. There is the Enchanted Forest, a now well established annual light show that brings Faskally Woods near Pitlochry to life at night, or the Crieff and Strathearn Drovers Tryst, a walking festival held each Autumn that marks the route the cattle drovers used to take when bringing cattle down from the highlands to the markets.
Cycling
If you prefer to get out on your bike then Perthshire has some very challenging on and off-road cycling routes as well as many much gentler and family friendly routes for the less adventurous. Cycling groups are welcome by prior arrangement.
There are a number of National Cycle Network (NCN) routes through the region giving you the options to take things at your own pace and explore the surrounding countryside.
Scone Palace
Located near Perth, Scone Palace has an exciting and colourful history as one of Scotland's most important stately homes. The Palace houses an outstanding collection of antiques, paintings and rare artefacts and the grounds are
renowned throughout the world, making the stateley home one of the most popular tourist attractions in both Perth and Scotland.

Other Events
Being very centrally located at the heart of Scotland and with excellent transport links north and south, Auchterarder is a great base for other major events taking place such as the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and the accompanying Edinburgh Fringe. Or there is the Royal Highland Show in June at Ingleston on the outskirts of Edinburgh.
With Glasgow and Edinburgh both just about an hour's drive from Auchterarder anything is possible.
