You may recognise Ben who rose to fame following his appearance on the popular documentary series, Police Interceptors. After serving 19 years as a road traffic officer in West Yorkshire Police. Ben was medically retired in October 2020 with severe PTSD. Since retirement, Ben has shifted gears and is now a mental health activist and speaker, using his personal experiences to shed light on the impact of such a demanding job. Ben is now a successful author, motivational speaker and Youtuber, sharing his life and work experiences- the ups and downs of policing, living with PTSD, and coping with the stigma attached to mental illness.
In November 2021, Ben teamed up with his close friend Dan Stanek who has worked within the print and design industry for over 30 years to create '1965 PTSD Awareness'. Both Dan and Ben are massive advocates of mental health, and hold charitable events throughout the year and donate to great causes like ours. In addition, they are proud to showcase their dedication to this cause through their 1965 PTSD Awareness merchandise line, which you can explore here.
To fundraise for the PTC 1965 PTSD Awareness held a black tie dinner on 21st October, again where all proceeds went to us. Additionally, on the 6th November, Ben was the celebrity guest at the charity event “I Love You Man” hosted by Caffeine and Machine where all the proceeds went to the charity of his choice, which was us.
Thank you to Ben and Dan, everyone who helped organise the events and to everybody who donated!
