We are exceptionally grateful for all the donations we receive and would like to highlight some recent donations below:
England RUFC Nominate PTC as Charity Partner
Last month the English Police Rugby Team took on the Police Scotland Rugby Team at Ilkley in Yorkshire. The PTC was the beneficiary of donations collected on the day which amounted to £359.62. Despite the kind of weather we have seen in recent months it was a beautiful day for a game of rugby and it was the Scots who came away with the victory winning 29 – 19.
Ex-patient Paul Harris got in touch with us about this particular match in collaboration with England Police RUFC Deputy Chair Pete Oram (also a past patient). Paul said “It was a universally popular choice when Pete Oram decided on the Police convalescence homes as the charity and we're really glad we could assist in the small way we did.”
The good news didn’t stop there though as Paul later got in touch with us again to say that the PTC had been chosen as the official charity partner of the England Police RUFC going forward.
CEO, Patrick Cairns said in reply, “..thank you first of all for nominating the PTC as your beneficiary last week, and indeed for then following through and appointing us as your chosen charity. We are really grateful as we know there are lots of other great charities out there,….…. thank you once again for supporting the PTC and the many thousands of police officers that we are proud to treat each year.”
The teams next fixture is v Wales Police at Hartpury College in Gloucester on 6th April, kick off at 7.15pm.
Support from High Sheriff of North Yorkshire
Charlie Forbes-Adam the High Sheriff of North Yorkshire and David Garfitt the Under Sheriff of North Yorkshire presented a generous cheque for £1666.62. Monies were raised at the Annual North Eastern Circuit Legal Service where the PTC were a joint beneficiary with York Minster.
It is always difficult as a police charity to fundraise to support our work, so we would like to thank all of the High Sheriffs of the North Eastern Circuit for selecting the PTC as one of their charity beneficiaries, and their very generous donation. This money will make a big difference in allowing us to support the 4000 police patients that we treat every year at our centres.
Balloon Race raising money for PTC!
A big thank you to Lauren-May Fox who raised a fantastic £36.10 for the Police Treatment Centres by organising a Balloon Race with her class mates at Franklin College, Grimsby.
Holding a fundraising event is a fantastic way to support The Treatment Centres, whilst having fun at the same time!
If you are interested in taking on your own challenge to raise money for the PTC, please contact the Fundraising Department by calling 01423 504448 or email.
West Yorkshire Police Federation Fund Bedroom Refurbishments
A £10K donation was made last year by West Yorkshire Police Federation to fully refurbish, redecorate and transform from single into double occupancy, two of the bedrooms at the PTC.
Both bedrooms now have plaques on the doors acknowledging this generous donation and West Yorkshire’s support.
Soap Stars Vs British Transport Police in Charity Match
A huge thank you to John, Paul & Dave who came to St Andrews today to present a cheque for £900, raised for the PTC at a charity football match at Garforth Town between British Transport Police and Emmerdale Cast and Crew Football Team.
The match was organised by John Moses who said "I attended the centre last year after a serious leg injury and the help I received was first class. I spoke to many officers there and the work done is fantastic so I wanted to raise money for the centre as well as raise the profile with current officers."
Thanks to everyone involved in organising the event and to all supporters from all of us here at the PTCs.
