The Charity’s provision is intended to be by way of short intensive treatment with the aim of helping the individual to make progress in resolving, or alleviating, a treatable condition.
In order to be eligible to receive treatment at The Police Treatment Centres:
Individuals not normally eligible for treatment are:
Applications for admission must be supported by evidence of a clinical need that can be addressed by the Clinical Teams at the PTC with an achievable positive, measurable clinical outcome.
All applications are valid for 3 months from date of the clinical referral signature.
Due to demand on our services we do not accept patients for ‘respite’, when no active treatment is required, e.g. after minor operations or illness. Each patient requires a clear need of clinical services input to be admitted in order to ensure the best use of our clinical resources.
The Charity can offer 1 week, 2 week or 2 week split residential stays for Physiotherapy. This can be requested on application and will be discussed with a clinician at the point of triage.
Individuals who make applications for admission should normally be capable of independently undertaking the ‘Activities of Daily Living’ including self-care and self-medication. However, each and every application will be sympathetically considered as a ‘significant and unique’ case and account will be taken of the support that an individual could themselves assemble to assist their circumstances e.g. accompanied by a ‘companion’ e.g. spouse/partner, son/daughter; friend.
We are able to provide up to 6 sessions of online treatment where necessary, with further sessions at the discretion of the Head Physiotherapist.
Applications for Online Physiotherapy are self-referral but can be supported by evidence of a clinical need that can be addressed by the Clinical Teams at the PTC and a positive, measurable clinical outcome achievable.
The range of conditions and circumstances that lend themselves to online physiotherapy is almost limitless but would include musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries and post-operative rehabilitation.
This list is not exhaustive meaning patients can always contact the Physiotherapy teams to discuss their individual condition.
The service provides Patients with an individually tailored self-management plan and exercise programme as needed.
This is a residential two week programme and individual elements of the programme cannot be accessed in isolation.
At the time of application, individuals should not be due to leave or retire from the force within six months.
Applicants for psychological support will need to complete two short questionnaires as part of their application. They will then be contacted by a Nurse for a confidential discussion of their needs before an admission will be agreed.
The PWP is not appropriate for treating post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Please seek support from your OH team or Police Care UK.
In your retirement you may be eligible to apply for a place on the Retired Wellbeing Programme (RWP).
