The Police Treatment Centres would like to make an official statement in

light of the recent media comments regarding Castlebrae closure for the Ryder Cup in September 2014.

The Centre will be closed for a one week period, commencing 22 September to enable vital funds to be raised for the Charity, enabling improved care and equipment for patients. The Charity has a contract with Ryder Cup Travel Services, to use the accommodation facilities at the Centre at an agreed sum. This figure is considerably lower than the £1 million quoted in the media.

The Police Treatment Centres is very much patient and care focused and whilst the Centre will be out of commission for a 1 week period any urgent cases will be managed prior to the closure or prioritised for the week the Centre re-opens, if travelling to the alternative centre is not an option.

The Police Treatment Centres is a charity and has unfortunately over the last few years seen a noticeable drop in its income levels. The charity’s main source of income is from donations from serving officers, we do not receive any statutory funding. With officer numbers dropping across England and Wales this has an impact on our funding. As such we have to manage any funding gaps and when opportunities arise like this if patient care is not compromised, then consideration to taking up these opportunities does need making.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the closure of Castlebrae for Patient Admissions for this one week period.

The Centre will re-open to Patients on Tuesday 30th September.
