Hazel’s fundraiser for The PTC

At 45, Hazel was diagnosed with undiagnosed hip dysplasia, worsened by years of physical activity and the demands of her policing career. After years of managing chronic pain, she underwent double hip replacement surgeries—her right hip in 2022 and her left in 2023.

As a retired police officer, Hazel has benefited from the exceptional care provided by the Police Treatment Centres, attending the North Centre in Auchterarder, Perthshire, for post-surgery rehabilitation. The team at Castlebrae, from the dedicated physios and gym staff to the supportive nurses, holistic therapists, and all the behind-the-scenes staff, have played a crucial role in her recovery.

Now, Hazel and her friend are walking the 96-mile West Highland Way in August 2024. This journey is not just a physical test but also a tribute to Hazel’s late father, whose cherished shepherd’s crook will accompany her every step of the way.
