Graeme Openshaw Takes On Manchester Marathon

Fundraising Hero Graeme Openshaw will be taking on the Manchester Marathon on 7th April 2019 in aid of The Police Treatment Centres!

On 16th September 2017 Graeme was involved in a serious road traffic accident. He came off ​his bicycle and broke his left arm and leg. Graeme spent 8 days in hospital and faced a long road to recovery.

Throughout his career Graeme had always donated to the Police Treatment Centre and in December 2017 he spent 2 weeks at the PTC centre in Harrogate receiving excellent physio and other treatment.

“The staff were exceptional and literally got me back on my feet. Within a month I was back at work and running again. I wouldn’t have recovered as quickly without the PTC.The PTC receives 90% of its funding from police officers and staff both serving and retired, but it couldn’t do it’s work without fund raising. The PTC treats over 4000 members of the police family every year, proving treatment for physical and mental well-being. 

When I started running 3 years ago to get back in shape I told my friends ‘this will not end up in me doing a marathon’. On Sunday 7th April 2019 I will be taking part in my first marathon, the ASICS Manchester Marathon. I will be motivated knowing that I will be raising money for the PTC and in some small way repaying them for the care they gave me.”
