Matthew Davidson will be taking part in the incredible Fire and Ice Ultra 2017 Icelandic challenge. It is a 5 day self-supported, 250km trek across Icelandic wilderness from ice fields to lava fields, across glacial rivers and past boiling mud pools and volcanic hot springs as you head towards the Arctic Circle.
Matthew said, “I have done many single and two day events before but never anything of this magnitude. This will push me to my physical and mental limit.”

Matthew is undertaking this challenge on behalf of the Police Treatment Centres. He said, “I have seen first hand the effects of the physical and mental pressures police officers face on a daily basis. My wife is a serving police officer suffering from PTSD.”
Matthew’s wife has attended our Castlebrae centre in Auchterarder and was greatly helped by her time there. She said, “It is a fantastic place for officers and we want to give something back.” In Matthew’s case that means taking part in the toughest multi-terrain race in the world.

The challenge starts on 28th August and concludes on the 2nd September 2017.
