Huge Congratulations going out to Lauren Hoddinott who completed the Borders and Bridges Sprint Triathlon on Sunday!

The Borders and Bridges Triathlon is possibly the world’s first triathlon involving a bike stage with an international border crossing and certainly the first to showcase Berwick’s famous Elizabethan walls as part of its run route.

The Sprint Distance race commences with a 500m pool swim before athletes transit to their bikes for a 22km ride passing through East Ord, crossing the border into Scotland towards Paxton, and returning via another border crossing at Horncliffe’s Chain Bridge.

After a second transition at the Swan Centre competitors follow a 5.4km run route through the Goody Patchy in Tweedmouth before heading for a loop of the walls via the Old Bridge and then return to the Swan Centre finish area.

In July 2014, Lauren’s Dad ruptured his Achilles Tendon. After months of recovery in a cast following an operation, he received two weeks of treatment and support at Castlebrae in Scotland.

Lauren says “I am raising money for the Police Treatment Centres to say a huge Thank You for the help & support their staff provided for my dad during his two week stay which enabled him to make a full recovery from injury and complete 30 years as a serving Police Office something my family & myself are extremely proud of!”

Her dad said “The treatment I received was far above what I expected and enabled me to return to work a lot sooner than I anticipated. The staff and facilities are excellent but what people have to remember is that this facility not only supports colleagues in England, Scotland & Wales but also colleagues who have a much harder job to do in Northern Ireland. I fully support my Daughter taking part in The Borders and Bridges Triathlon & ask you to support this brilliant cause.”
