The Police Treatment Centres would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in the recent 12-hour Padelathon at our Harrogate centre, which has raised an incredible £10,000 and counting in support of the police family.
The event was organised by Stuart Cowen from British Transport Police, whose dedication and enthusiasm helped turn the idea into a hugely successful fundraising challenge. Throughout the day, players took to the courts at St Andrews, Harrogate, taking part in twelve hours of continuous padel to raise vital funds for the Police Treatment Centres.
The Padelathon also received fantastic support from PTC Chair Liam Kelly of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), who played an active role in both the organisation and delivery of the event. His involvement, alongside the commitment of Stuart and the wider team, helped create a day that truly reflected the strength of the police family coming together for a shared cause.
What made the event particularly special was the support received from police forces and federations across the UK. Teams were built through collaboration between colleagues, federations and supporters from different policing organisations, all united by a desire to support the work of the Police Treatment Centres. This collective effort not only helped fill the courts but also drove fundraising, awareness and engagement throughout the day.
The atmosphere was exceptional from start to finish. Participants of all abilities embraced the challenge, while supporters and volunteers kept spirits high throughout the twelve hours. The event showcased the camaraderie, teamwork and generosity that exists across the policing community.
The Police Treatment Centres rely on the generosity of supporters to continue providing specialist physical rehabilitation and mental wellbeing services to serving and retired police officers and staff. Funds raised through initiatives such as the Padelathon help us ensure that members of the police family can access the support they need to recover from injury, illness and the pressures associated with policing.
Raising more than £10,000 is a remarkable achievement, and the total continues to grow. Every donation will make a meaningful difference to the lives of those who turn to the Police Treatment Centres for help during some of the most challenging periods of their lives.
