Victoria Wilson, a West Yorkshire Police Officer, took part in the Great North Swim in Windermere fundraising for the The Police Treatment Centres after receiving treatment after 2 hip replacements.

Victoria said “2016 was the year of bilateral total hip replacements for me. After each operation I was lucky enough to receive treatment at the Police Treatment Centre in Harrogate.  I have now been able to return to full duties at work. Without their treatment and ongoing support I know I wouldn’t have made it.”

The staff and facilities are excellent, but it is a Charity and as such relies on contributions and fundraising.  Officers have to contribute to be able to attend the centres but those contributions are not enough to sustain these facilities.

“Well I did it! Conditions were really tough, very cold and quite choppy. But I took my time and I made it. Look who I met literally at the finish line – only Nicky, one of the two fantastic physios who helped me recover at the Treatment Centre!
