The Police Treatment Centres’ Scottish centre, Castlebrae in Auchterarder, has received a generous donation of £5000 from ASPS (The Association of Scottish Police Superintendents). The cheque was handed over to the PTC by Chair of the East District of ASPS and member of the main Executive Committee, Gavin Buist.
ASPS is a staff organisation that looks after the needs of some 200+ Superintendents and Chief Superintendents in the Police Service of Scotland. The association has, on occasions, held meetings at Castlebrae and as an organisation are very aware of, and supportive of, the work the charity does with serving and retired officers.
The £5000 donation from ASPS has given towards the Castlebrae capital project to redevelop the treatment facilities at the centre. We currently have plans to build a larger swimming pool, provide a hydrotherapy pool and to increase the size of the rehab gym and fitness studio. The cost of this work is in the region of £2.6million and the charity have so far raised just over £1.7million.
Gavin Buist, who presented the cheque, is also a trustee of the PTC and as such is very aware of our need to increase the size of our treatment facilities. Many of the rehabilitation and exercise classes provided for the officers during their stay are restricted due to the current size of the pool and the gym and the provision of a hydrotherapy pool to bring us in-line with the facilities offered at our Harrogate centre will be a real boost for the charity and the patients.
We are very grateful, therefore, for this generous donation from ASPS and for the support that the organisation gives us.
