Three quarters of Britons regularly give to charity in their lifetime, yet only 6% currently include a charity when writing a will.
Legacy Giving is an important element of income for charities; by remembering a charity in your will you will ensure a lasting gift.
During the recent ‘Remember a Charity In Your Will Week’ the PTC and SGPCT ensured that officers knew how easy it is to remember a charity in a will. By remembering the PTC or SGPCT in your will you are able to leave a lasting legacy for your colleagues; and ensure the PTC and SGPCT can continue to provide class leading treatment for the police family and ensure they receive support at the most difficult times.
Thank you to all of those who have decided to remember the PTC or SGPCT in their will; such as Anne Allan, a retired Northumbria Police Officer. Anne sadly suffered from Motor Neurone Disease and visited the Police Treatment Centres during the course of her illness, although treatment could not cure her, it was able to provide her some support and relief. Sadly, Anne lost her battle with the disease. Sometime after Anne passed away, the PTC were informed that she had left a legacy of £5,000. Anne’s husband Phil said; ‘The PTC and more importantly the staff made a huge difference to both of our lives and we both benefited hugely during a difficult time. The treatment, care and kindness shown to us both was appreciated massively by Anne and is something I will never forget.’
