Ian Weinfass from the Police Oracle recently visited the Police Treatment Centres in Harrogate to see what officers can benefit from & learn about a limited time offer for new sign ups.
"Away from the daily stress & danger of the job lie two remarkable oases of calm designed for officers suffering from injury or mental health problems...." Read more here
In the article, PC Birbeck refers to costs of £120 per year to donate to the PTC & therefore be eligible for free treatment. In actual fact, it costs officers £1.30 each week, which equates to only £67.56 each year. An Officer would only have to attend once in 20 years to get their money's worth in pure financial terms.
"In a bid to encourage more officers to sign up, the charity is currently running a three month amnesty for new joiners so that if they need to use the centres they can do so without having paid in for a year."
When you sign up there is normally an initial waiting time of 12 months before you can access treatment. However, if you sign up during the PTC’s
National Recruitment Campaign running from now until June, you will receive amnesty from this waiting time, and be able to access treatment straight away.
If you are not currently making a regular donation to the Police Treatment Centres and would like to sign up & benefit from the Amnesty, visit our Eligibility Page to get your Force Form & then contact your Police Federation or Payroll Department
