The PTC team at Harrogate took a break today from planning the re-opening of the Centres in two weeks’ time, to recognise the achievements of Maggie who is the PTC Harrogate Dining Room Supervisor and today reached the milestone of 40 years work at the PTC. Maggie started as a Housekeeper at the Centre in 1981 and has worked alongside five CEOs and fifteen Chairs of the Board of Trustees since this time. More importantly Maggie has looked after thousands of patients during her four decades at the PTC and always prided herself on delivering an outstanding level of service to everyone, prioritising their needs above her own, and looked after her team at work as if they were her own family.
Patrick Cairns the CEO of the PTC commented “Maggie is very much the beating heart of the PTC. If you have come to Harrogate you will know Maggie, and she exemplifies what we do at the PTC, and how we do it. She would be embarrassed if I were to tell you the true scale of her commitment and work, but she is active well beyond the four walls of the Centre and has inspired everyone who knows her with her dedication and commitment to the PTC, and her determination to always go the extra mile to ensure all of our patients are superbly looked after to the best of her considerable ability.”
Liam Kelly the Chair of the Board of Trustees commented “40 years selfless and valued service to the patients of the PTC is a significant achievement and we are extremely lucky and blessed to have Maggie in our team. I first met Maggie around 18 years ago when I attended St Andrews as a patient. I particularly remember her friendly demeanour and nothing seemingly was too much trouble for her. Over the last 6 years I have been a regular visitor at St Andrews in my role as a trustee and I have to say Maggie’s work ethic, dedication and friendliness is still evident in abundance and is an inspiration to all. On behalf of the Board of Trustees I want to put on record our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for everything Maggie has done and continues to do for the PTC and its patients. Thank you Maggie – you’re a star!”
Baroness Angela Harris the President of the PTC commented “ What an absolute gem Maggie is! What incredible service she has given to the PTC - and to the police family generally. Maggie makes everyone who comes to Harrogate more than welcome - she treats us all like her own. Her dedication, loyalty, hard work, cheerfulness, generosity and personality embody what we do for our patients - and Maggie makes sure we are all treated to her magic! So an enormous thank you and many, many congratulations on reaching an amazing milestone. Long may you continue, dear Maggie”
Maggie much to her embarrassment Maggie has been showered with a variety of gifts today, some of which will not be able to be redeemed until after lockdown restrictions have been lifted. Maggie always says that she feels very lucky to work at the PTC, but everyone at the PTC would like to take this moment to tell Maggie that we genuinely feel lucky to have her working with us, to thank her for everything that she has done over the last 40 years for all our patients and staff, and to recognise one of our truly outstanding members of the PTC team.
