In these difficult and unprecedented times we currently find ourselves in, we have been reflecting on the highlights of the last 12 months, as well as looking forward to better times and a return to some normality. Whilst we were unable to host our AGM this year, we are delighted to present our Impact Report for 2019/2020 with facts, figures, successes, and highlights from the charity over the past year.

The difficult decision to close both our centres in March, due to the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, meant that we were unable to treat as many police family patients as we have done in previous years. It also meant that due to the forced postponement or cancellation of many of our fundraising initiatives the charity finds itself facing a projected loss in income from fundraising, hospitality etc. of approximately £400,000.
However, we don’t want to focus on what we can’t do, but on what we are continuing to do to support the Police Family and despite having been closed to patients since the middle of March, we are still managing to make a difference where ever we possibly can.
- Since closing, we have offered many hours of personal physio advice via our hotline.
- We have worked with the developers of Thrive, the only NHS approved Mental Health App, to customise the app for the Police Treatment Centres to support Mental Wellbeing for our patients and employees. This App has already been sent out to over 400 Patients and staff to help them manage stress, improve wellbeing and build resilience in order to tackle common issues effectively.
- We have engaged with over 7,500 people across social media, sharing tips & advice from our expert teams and partners to look after your mental & physical wellbeing.
- We have continued to offer monthly cash prizes in charity lottery.
- We have donated unused PPE to local care homes and hospices.
- And we have finally started work on the much needed Wellbeing wing extension in Harrogate. Working whilst closed has at least meant no disruption or inconvenience to patients in residence
It is our hope that it will not be long now before we are able to once again open the doors of our two centres and welcome members of the police family back with us. We are currently working hard to ensure that we establish new procedures and operating practices in-line with government guidelines in order that:
- We come out of the other side of this swiftly and effectively, opening up as quickly and safely as possible.
- We ensure that when we do reopen, we are able to offer 100% of the class-leading treatment that Officers’ attend for and deserve
- We can fully staff the new wing with the very best, expert clinical and estates teams
- We can run an additional Wellbeing Programme each week at our Harrogate Centre, and give us the opportunity to further expand and improve the wellbeing provision we offer.
In these difficult and uncertain times, we would like to thank you for your continued support and ensure you that The Police Treatment Centres and St George’s Police Children Trust will be here to support you when you need it the most, so do keep on supporting us.
