The Police Treatment Centres was delighted to be nominated by the Police Superintendents Association as one of the beneficiaries at their annual dinner, which took place at their conference in Kenilworth on Tuesday 9 September and even more delighted by the result.
A collection at the dinner saw members of the Association dig deep and a cheque for the £1200 was donated to the charity by Irene Curtis, President of the Police Superintendents Association of England and Wales.
Colonel Patrick Cairns, Chief Executive of the Police Treatment Centres represented the charity at the dinner and commented, “Donations such as this are vital to the Police Treatment Centres to ensure that we are able to continue to provide police specific treatment and support to serving and retired officers. The Police Treatment Centres would like to formally thank both the President and the Association members for nominating the Police Treatment Centres and for their generosity.”
Colonel Cairns continued, “Each year the Police Treatment Centres treats nearly 4000 serving and retired police officers at two dedicated treatment centres, one in Harrogate and the second in Auchterarder, Perthshire. We’re primarily funded by the monthly donations from individual police officers and each year we face a bigger shortfall as the number of police officers donating to the charity falls. All serving police officers who donate to the charity are eligible for the free expert police specific treatment offered by the charity following injury or illness but to continue to offer this the charity needs to raise around £500,000 each year. Donations like this therefore are very important to us.”
Police officers of any rank are welcome to visit the Police Treatment Centres to find out more about the treatment offered following injury or illness. To begin donating and to become eligible for free treatment should you need it please contact your Police Federation or Association or visit www.thepolicetreatmentcentres.org
