The Big Build Update
Work is progressing at a good pace as the weather begins to turn towards winter. The most significant and noticeable work since the steel structure of the new building housing the two new pools and the changing rooms went up has been the roof going on. Over the last couple of weeks the crane has been back on-site to hoist the large roof panels up on top of the new steel structure and the construction workers have been hard at work securing them to the frame.
The white panels that you see covering the roof in the photographs are thick sections of roofing that contain the insulating material between two corrugated layers. On the outside, batons will next be added to this surface and then the roof will be tiled in keeping with the other parts of the centre surrounding the new build.
Walls will also be going up soon and then windows and doors to make the whole new building wind and water tight before the worse of the winter weather arrives.
