St Andrews
Since the Police Treatment Centre in Harrogate opened its doors in 1899, almost 100,000 injured and ill police officers have received treatment that has improved their health and wellbeing and helped a great many return to work sooner than expected.
Demand on the services provided at the Centre in Harrogate continues to grow and there is increased pressure on its facilities. Some of the areas are in need of modernisation and refurbishment so as to better meet the needs of those officers who attend for vital treatment.
Our plans for St Andrews will result in a 23 bedroom refurbishment plus modernisation to the public lounge area on the Duke of York Wing. This is aimed at significantly improving the environment for our patients whilst staying at the Centre. A growing body of evidence has found that an attractive, sensitively designed environment can offer significant therapeutic benefits to patients and boost staff morale. Fundraising activities have or are already taking place to help raise the funds for this development project which include:
- Charity Clay Day - Monday 9 May at Castle Howard near York (our thanks to Richard Jackson)
- Heritage Open Days - Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 September at St Andrews in Harrogate
Further details on future fundraising events and activities to follow.
