Physiotherapy
The majority of officers attending the Police Treatment Centres do so to receive intensive physiotherapy treatment. Each patient is thoroughly assessed, relevant to their condition, by a physiotherapist on arrival at the Centres to enable a tailored individual treatment programme to be developed.
The physiotherapists take a proactive approach to treatment but the emphasis is on helping patients to help themselves; patients are encouraged to participate in education and exercise classes and make good use of the facilities, including the swimming pool, hydrotherapy pool (St Andrews), fitness gym and exercise gym.
Each centre has excellent resources in respect to the provision of equipment – with a specialist open plan physio department, gymnasium with up to date machines and studio for classes. St Andrews also has a hydro pool and the developments at Castlebrae will include a larger fitness pool and hydro pool.
The physiotherapists have a widespread skill mix and attend regular courses and training to maintain and improve their knowledge and expertise. A huge benefit is gained from the close working arrangement with the fitness and leisure staff ensuring all patients are well equipped to continue their rehabilitation when they leave.
What can be better for your health and wellbeing than hassle free access to excellent Physiotherapy and facilities to improve your fitness without everyday life issues getting in the way!
We offer a telephone advisory service to give officers access to information on whether treatment is needed and, if so, how to access it. Officers should call and ask for the Physio Department:
