Jackie Muller – New York Marathon November 2010

Jackie Muller, a police officer from Scotland, raised £7500 for Castlebrae by competing in the New York Marathon in a time of 6 hours 35 minutes. Jackie ran the ING New York City Marathon in November 2010 and is thrilled with the support she has received – but will possibly never run a marathon again!

It wasn’t all plain sailing; a fall down stairs left her with an ankle injury which threatened her chances of taking part in the marathon. But after receiving intensive physiotherapy treatment at Castlebrae, Jackie was back in her running shoes again.

Jackie said: “It was not easy. I went through the pain of training, the emotions of whether I could do it and then the gruelling pounding of twenty six miles – I was very relieved to cross the finishing line! I’m delighted that so many people have supported me. In the future many more officers will need to use the facilities the Police Treatment Centres offer and the charity needs the funds to develop. I know first-hand how good the Centres are in treating and getting officers back to good health. It’s a very worthy charity to support.”
